Tracy Galvin, MSN, RN, was named Chief Nursing Officer for Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center effective May 30, 2023.

Previous experience

Prior to joining DHMC, and since 2015, Galvin served as the Chief Nursing Officer and Senior Vice President for Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, MA, a 345-bed acute care hospital. Her career at Lahey began in 1987, when she joined the organization as a staff nurse.

A dynamic nurse leader, she rose through the ranks in various roles including Nurse Manager, Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Cardiothoracic Post Anesthesia Care Unit and the Cardio and Vascular Step-Down Unit. She spent more than 10 years as Associate Chief Nurse of Critical Care Nursing Services, working closely with physician leadership to redesign the Medical Intensive Care and Coronary Care units. She served as Associate Chief Nurse Inpatient Services from 2013-2015.

As Lahey's CNO, Galvin helped to enable and streamline a cultural change process across the Lahey health system, by establishing an interactive nursing culture committed to delivering excellent patient care through evidence-based best practices. Her commitment to the recruitment, retention and professional development of her nursing team is one of her strongest leadership attributes, demonstrated by a commitment to continuous rounding and open communication which resulted in high employee engagement scores and low staff turnover rates.

Education and certifications

Galvin holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northeastern University and a Master of Science in Nursing from Regis College. She is presently enrolled as a doctoral student at Regis College where she is pursuing her Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP).

Personal

Galvin is a New Hampshire native and currently lives in Canaan with her husband.
