June 2024 While we may not go through life wishing to become someone’s health care agent, it is not uncommon to find ourselves in that role when a loved one is experiencing dementia symptoms. Taking on such a responsibility can come with many questions, concerns, and a bit of anxiety. This program will cover how to best prepare for this important role and how to approach some of the challenging decisions you may face.
January 2024 Caring for a loved one with dementia at any stage can be challenging and lonely. As the person that we have always known changes, we may find ourselves experiencing losses, even though that person is still alive and with us. This workshop is available to anyone who is a care partner for a person with dementia. We will discuss what we mean by “ambiguous” and “dementia grief” and we will explore resources and supports as you navigate this challenging time.
This video discusses the late stage of dementia, including symptoms, moving into a facility, connecting with remaining self, being the voice of a loved one, and end of life issues and hospice.
This video discusses the moderate stage of dementia, including symptoms, communication, understanding behavior, getting support, engaged activities, and dealing with driving.
This video discusses early-stage dementia and Alzheimer’s dementia, including legal and financial matters, education, adapting to early-stage symptoms, and lifestyle changes for brain health.

The Dementia Resource Team is part of the patient-centered care pillar under Dartmouth Health's Geriatric Center of Excellence (GCOE). The GCOE is committed to delivering world-class, person-centered care to older adults across northern New England and creating an age-friendly health system.
