Design Services Overview and Project Examples

Intake

The goal of our first meeting is to understand your project better. We'll ask a lot of questions about your problem/need to help us determine if we’re the right team to help. This meeting usually happens in one session.

Here are some common questions we might ask:

  • What is the behavior/skill gap that you’re trying to improve?
  • How do you know this problem exists?
  • What changes do you want to see from this education?
  • What is currently preventing your target audience from doing the desired behavior/skill?

Discovery and prototype

During the discovery and prototype phase, we work to establish a shared understanding of the following: the problem, the ideal learning solution, and the measurable outcome(s) of success. This phase includes reviewing existing educational content to identify gaps in the presentation, talking with learners about their current understanding of the content, and coordinating buy-in from all project stakeholders. This phase can take time, especially if the content is complicated, there are different types of learners, or there are many stakeholders involved.

Here are some common steps we might take:

  • Needs analysis, including interviews with potential learners
  • Content mapping of existing materials
  • Creation of testable prototype solution(s)

Development

During the development phase, we build and test the learning solution. The goal is to create a final product that meets the learning goals established during the discovery and prototype phase. Despite being heavily technical, development usually doesn’t take any longer than the discovery and prototype phase, since most questions should be answered by now. Any changes at this stage, while possible, are typically more resource-intensive to implement and will add time to the overall phase.

Here are some examples of learning products that we might develop:
