The Student Nurse Practicum Program is designed for the nursing students of an accredited baccalaureate program (BSN) as a culmination of their knowledge, skills and experience.
The student is provided an immersion experience under the direct supervision of a professional nurse mentor. The student functions in the role of a member of an interdisciplinary team at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, an academic medical center.
The Practicum student is given the opportunity to provide safe patient care through the use of nursing assessment, implementation of patient care plans and evaluating patient outcomes. The student will apply the nursing process to care for assigned patients.
Application process
Schools interested in applying for a practicum placement should apply through the Centralized Nursing Clinical Placement Services website (select New Hampshire under Regional Placements).
