Our Philosophy of Care

The opening of the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care represents the realization of a vision thirty years in the making. For too long, our region had been without a facility to care for those with life-limiting illness who may not be able to receive the level of care they need in other care settings.

Fulfilling a vision for care in the Upper Valley

In partnership with hospice and nursing organizations throughout the region, the Jack Byrne Center closes a gap in our health system, making personalized care, community programming, and clinical research opportunities available within a state-of-the-art, homelike environment.

A place for learning and research

While the Center incorporates state-of-the-art practices in palliative and hospice care, our team advances their practice through research and education. Research at the Jack Byrne Center is an integral part of ongoing initiatives at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. The Center also offers training programs for hospice and palliative care professionals.
