The Moderate Sedation program is for clinicians, providers and nurses, who are directly involved in procedures requiring moderate sedation. Training to be credentialed in moderate sedation is role-specific.
If you are a proceduralist, meaning the person doing the procedure
Required training includes the following steps:
- Sign up for the Moderate Sedation online modules.
- Send an email to lifesupport@hitchcock.org to request only the online modules.
- The modules will be manually assigned to you in Halogen.
- Receive a confirmation email, from Halogen, when they are available for you to access.
- Complete the modules in their entirety.
- Successfully pass the final exam.
Optional additional training includes:
- Hands-on simulation training; follow the instructions below
If you are a sedationist, meaning the person providing moderate sedation for the procedure
Required pre-requisites
- Current ACLS or PALS certification
Required training includes the following steps:
- Sign up for the Moderate Sedation online modules plus the hands-on simulation training.
- Click the Moderate Sedation class registration hyperlink below to view open dates and times for the hands-on simulation training sessions.
- Submit your request, using the Register button, for the hands-on simulation (this will also request the online modules).
- Receive an email confirming the hands-on simulation training date and time.
- Once your ACLS/PALS certification is verified, the modules will be manually assigned to you in Halogen.
- Receive a second confirmation email, from Halogen, when they are available for you to access.
- Complete the modules in their entirety.
- Successfully pass the final exam.
- Be present for the entire hands-on simulation training.
