Post-Doctoral Clinical Research Fellowship in Treatment-Resistant Depression and Advanced Therapeutics
This fellowship provides advanced training in the evaluation and management of patients with treatment-resistant mood disorders, with a specific focus on patients with treatment-resistant depression (TRD). Experience in the use of psychopharmacologic interventions for TRD will be provided by supervised participation in consultation clinics for patients with treatment-resistant mood disorders at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) and the White River Junction VA.
Training and experience in brain stimulation therapies will be obtained by participation in the clinical administration of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and active involvement in clinical trials of ECT, TMS and other brain stimulation therapies such as deep brain stimulation (DBS).
Additional opportunities to participate in mood disorders research (such as brain imaging studies) will be provided. Applicants should have an MD, be a board-eligible or board-certified psychiatrist and be eligible to obtain a license to practice medicine in New Hampshire.

Medical student and resident physician training
Students at Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and psychiatric residents at the DHMC have the opportunity to rotate through the Mood Disorders Service (MDS) as part of their adult psychiatry training. Working closely with Dr. Holtzheimer in the MDS Consultation Clinic is an excellent learning opportunity to develop skills in the evaluation and management of patients with treatment-resistant depression and other mood disorders.
Additionally, students and residents will become more familiar with various brain stimulation therapies such as electroconvulsive therapy, transcranial magnetic stimulation and deep brain stimulation.
