Functional capacity evaluation
A functional capacity evaluation (FCE) is an assessment of your current work abilities. This evaluation is more lengthy and thorough. An occupational therapist or a physical therapist, completes the FCE. The FCE answers questions related to employment planning or returning to a specific job. You may need an FCE due to your physical or cognitive abilities. The FCE consists of:
- Ability testing
- An interview
- Physical screening
- Work simulation, if appropriate
Safety, reliability, and validity are key components of this assessment.
Wheelchair seating and positioning
An experienced occupational therapist specializing in wheelchair seating and positioning completes an assessment of your needs and helps with the process of:
- Acquiring a new wheelchair
- Modifying your existing wheelchair
- Replacing your worn wheelchair
