What is an intestinal ultrasound?
Intestinal ultrasound is a pain-free, nonsurgical test. In real-time, doctors can see the intestines and determine whether there are signs of inflammation. It can be used to:
- Determine whether a new medication is working
- Show the degree of inflammation in your bowels
- Tell whether a change in inflammation in the intestines is causing new symptoms
Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center is one of only a few centers in the country, and the only facility in northern New England, offering this safe, nonsurgical diagnostic test for people with IBD.
